From the age of 3 or 4, you can start using a digital GPS watch for your child. Of course, you can do this earlier, but the child won’t be out of a parent’s sight for very long at that age.
Our digital children’s watch uses GPS to determine the location, which is sent to our online software via the watch’s built-in SIM card (GPRS). You can then log in online to view the location details.
Simply put the digital children’s watch on your child’s wrist when they go outside. You can then check their location online or via the smartphone app. Your child’s location is shown on a map, and you can even zoom in for a detailed view.
The Spotter GPS Watch works throughout Europe, which isn’t the case with all GPS watches. So even if you’re going on holiday, you can still use the Spotter here. We recommend using the Spotter outdoors. Indoors, the signal may be weaker, which can affect the accuracy of the location tracking.
The Spotter GPS Watch is equipped with a motion sensor that detects the difference between movement and stillness. When the watch is in motion, a location is sent every 5 minutes, which you can view immediately online via your account or the Spotter app. When the Spotter GPS Watch is not in motion and is not being worn, the location is sent every 5 hours. You can view all locations for 24 hours; after this, the data is deleted.
That’s right, the Spotter watch works subscription-free. You can choose from prepaid credit packages of 3, 6 or 12 months. You can use the Spotter within this period, after which it stops working. This means you can put the Spotter away for a while and then start using it again by topping up your credit. No use means no charges.
The Spotter GPS children’s watch costs a one-off payment of €99.95 and works with prepaid credit. Find out how the prepaid credit works here.
You can set up different zones on the Spotter watch. These are virtual circles around specific areas, such as your home address, school or grandparents’ house. You create a zone, and as soon as your child enters or leaves it, you’ll receive a notification.
The Spotter watch is equipped with an SOS button. If your child presses this button, you will immediately receive a push notification on your smartphone, along with their location. You can then take action or call your child via the Spotter.
When you switch on the watch, you will hear a short beep. After that, you won’t hear any more sounds, except when you receive a call on the watch, in which case you will hear a ringtone.
The Spotter children’s GPS watch is equipped with a handy call function. This allows you, as a parent, to call your child and talk to them. This is useful if your child doesn’t have a phone yet. As a parent, you can call the Spotter, but not the other way round.
You can use the Spotter app, which is available to download for free from the App Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android. Once you have received the Spotter watch, simply add it to the app and you’re ready to start using the children’s watch.
The locations are stored for 24 hours and can be viewed via the online software and app.
The battery life is up to 5 days, averaging two to three days.
The warranty period is 24 months. Should you experience any issues with the watch, our support team will first attempt to resolve the problem remotely. If this proves impossible, you can return the Spotter and, if necessary, you will receive a replacement.
Absolutely – as a parent, you are allowed to track your child using a GPS watch. We explain exactly how this works and what the law says about it here.
